‍ ‍A home inspired by art, music and travel

My client works in the music industry, travels extensively and has a strong interest in art, music and design. He wanted his home to have some of the atmosphere and confidence of the hotels and spaces he encountered through his work, while still feeling unmistakably personal.

Getting to know what he responded to became an important part of the design process. While he was away on tour, photographs would arrive from hotels he was staying in - a piece of furniture, an unexpected colour combination or simply an atmosphere that had caught his attention. These weren't references to reproduce, but clues to the kind of home he wanted to live in.

Across the ground floor, rich colour and pattern provide the backdrop to his art, record collection and the things he has collected over time. Olive green cabinetry, deep burgundy, ochre, coral and black sit alongside patterned wallpapers, vintage-inspired lighting and individual pieces of furniture. Each space has its own character, while still feeling connected to the next.

The house was also designed around the way he actually lives, rather than an idealised version of it. The result feels colourful, confident and highly individual - a home that couldn't really belong to anyone else.
